Understanding the Difference Between LPG and CNG: A Focus on Compressed Natural Gas in Africa

What is CNG?

- LPG: Highly flammable and can be dangerous if there is a leak. However, it has a strong odorant added to detect leaks easily.

-CNG: Lighter than air, so it dissipates quickly in the event of a leak, reducing the risk of fire. Also contains an odorant for leak detection.

Cost and Availability:

-LPG: Relatively easy to transport and store, making it widely available. However, prices can be volatile due to dependency on oil markets.

-CNG: Often cheaper than LPG and other fossil fuels. The infrastructure for CNG is growing but still limited in many areas, including parts of Africa.
